luxury bedding sets

When looking for luxury bedding sets you may feel either overwhelmed with choice or lost as to where to start.

Buying bedding online is one of the most popular and simplest choices when it comes to getting the exact luxury bedding you want. You can do it from the comfort of your own armchair and if you need to make or check a few measurements in the bedroom you are buying for then it’s simple to do.

Buying your luxury bedding from Dusk is straightforward and simple and there are a variety of different delivery and tracking options with free delivery on orders over £50; up to 60% of luxury bedding all offered at some of the lowest prices in the UK.

If you are on the hunt for quality cotton bedding then look no further than Dusk. Here’s a taster of what you can expect when you buy from us:

Luxury Bedding Sets

Our bedding collections are diverse and plentiful and it is worthwhile scrolling through the full list to see for yourself what is on offer. We would recommend this as your first port of call when buying a new bedding set.

  • The smooth and cool option – the Seville bedding collection provides the ultimate in luxury bedding design and the pompom edging is a masterstroke in detail. It has a 200-thread count cotton percale and is delightfully silky next to the skin. This collection is available to buy as a super king duvet set with super king pillowcases.
  • The quality and price ‘double win’ option – our Richmond bedding collection offers high-end quality at a very reasonable price with the kind of design that fits well with almost any existing bedroom décor. The hem stitching on the edges of the pillows and the duvet cover create an understated style, allowing the quality of the 200-thread cotton percale to shine through.
  • Strong and neutral – the Milano bedding collection provides a design that makes a statement without being garish. Again, it is made from 200 cotton percale and the look is polished off with an Oxford border, introducing a colored outline and a thick strip of color around the edge of the pillowcase and duvet cover.

A few tips to remember – luxury duvet sets feel more luxurious when they are made with cotton percale which is a smooth, closely woven cotton fabric. The thread count refers to the number of threads per square inch. A simple way of checking to see if you have a high or low thread count on your sheets is to hold it up in the light and if you are not able to make out the pattern of the weave, then your sheet is likely to be a high thread count. The weight of a sheet is also a good yardstick to use when establishing the thickness and quality of a sheet.

Where to Buy Luxury Cushions and Throws

As well as cotton duvet covers and thread counts, it is also important to consider the look of your luxury bedding. This is where luxury cushions and throws come into the mix.

One of the main objectives of cushions and throws is to introduce the personal touch to an existing style or design, and for that you need choice. At Dusk we have a large choice of throws and pillows that allow you to create your own unique, boutique style.

Below are a few of our best sellers:

  • The star buy – Dusk’s Starlet collection has an immediate attraction with its dimpled, lightly coloured stich work on white cotton and microfibre backing. Cushions are also available in this collection.
  • The layered look – Dusk’s Oslo collection is perfect if you want to capture the luxury layered feel to your bed. Made in a honeycomb pattern there is a tangible and textured quality to this collection, ideal for giving your bed the cosy appeal. Oslo cushions add to the overall snug effect.
  • The pretty in pink choice – our Twilight collection comes in a reversible, coloured pink/grey combination with thin quilted channels throughout and a neat coloured border, the effect is soft and fresh.

* When it comes to buying luxury throws it’s worthwhile knowing that throws are an ideal size for a double or king size bed in terms of size.

How to Clean a Memory Foam Mattress Topper without getting stressed

Published

on

Like other mattresses, memory foam mattress top is not latex or wool. This is a lot easier to clean if you have enough knowledge about what you are doing. So here are some basic tricks and tips to clean your memory foam mattress. If you follow accordingly, you will have a freshsmelling brand new looking mattress.

  1. Use a vacuum cleaner:

Maybe the easiest method of cleaning mattress is to vacuum it. Try to clean the mattress on a flat surface. Keep it on the floor, not on your bed. This will help you to reach every single nook and corner to clean it evenly. The vacuum sucks all the dust that was stored into the open cells of the mattress. The water-based vacuum cleaner is also safe to use on memory foam mattress. Just make sure you dry it for several hours. Do not put mattress protector in direct sunlight.

  1. Baking Soda:

Baking soda is a popular cleaning substance. Mix one part baking soda with two-part cold water and dissolve it until it is looking milky. Take a cloth and take some of the mixtures and gently rub the mixture into the stain. Leave the milky solution for an hour to soak up dirt really. Then use a damp cloth to mildly remove the solution from there. To dry the area use a dry cloth.

  1. White Vinegar:

If there is a nasty stain on your memory foam mattress or maybe another mattress like hybrid mattress you can clean them with white vinegar. Just take some white vinegar and dilute with water. The mixture should be 1:1. Then pour a bit on a damp cloth and rub it in the stain. Rub it until the stain goes. Then keep a dry cloth on that area to soak up the excess water. You can also use borax following the same process.

  1. Detergent:

Detergent is easy to use and it will leave a fresh smell on your mattress. Just make sure you do not use any cheap detergent or dishwashing liquid. Because it will make your mattress protector look dull and it will lose its appearance. The process is the same with detergent too. Use a damp cloth with diluted detergent. Then rub the stained area to get the stain out. Leave it for half an hour like this. Then again with a damp cloth rub the area to get the detergent out. Keep a dry cloth on it to soak excess water.

  1. Plain Water:

Water is also good for washing the mattress topper. Make sure you put the topper on a flat surface that there is no bump in it. Then thoroughly wash the topper. Do not use hot water thinking that it will be cleaned better. Hot water will shrink the topper and it will be spoiled. Roll the topper inwards and give it a slight press to remove excess water. Do not squeeze it to make it dry. Avoid sun from the topper. Before you place it back make sure it is hundred percent dry. Or mold fungus can attack it.

Remember to take care of your mattress. The lifespan of a mattress is ten years. If you do not keep it clean it will not be a healthy mattress to sleep on. Do not use hydrogen peroxide directly on top of memory foam mattress because this will destroy the texture and color from memory foam. Do not put the topper into the tumble dryer. If you are using a hair dryer do not let it get a touch of memory foam mattress. These are all you could do for keeping mattress new for years.

Bathroom design trends to update the ‘smallest room’

If its time for your bathroom to receive a makeover or complete redesign, you might be stuck for ideas as to how to re-style the important and functional space. However, there are plenty of new style ideas to help make your bathroom feel up-to-date and become a more enjoyable room to spend time in.

In addition, Britons have named their least favourite bathrooms trends in recent years, of which we’ll share a few of note.

“Re-decorating or re-designing your bathroom isn’t always an easy task as not everyone has a lot of space to play with,” said Pimlico estate agent, Andrew Reeves. “But, with the right colours, styling and configuration, you can make your bathroom great again.”

Country style

If you’re a fan of country styling, then you could create a warm, country feel in your bathroom. This could be achieved by installing a roll-top, freestanding bathroom, having fresh white walls and introducing tongue and groove wall décor. Add brass fittings to your sink, bath and shower and the country look will be clear to see and enjoy.

For your accessories, a wicker towel or clothes basket can lend the right tone, while a single towel rail and perhaps a vintage vase with colourful flowers will help finish the look off to perfection.

Japanese Zen

If you want something a little more modern, then you could opt for a calm Japanese style. For this look, you’ll need oversized tiles which will help reduce the number of grout lines and make the area seem less ‘busy’.

Simply but elegantly designed bathroom items will also help create a ‘zen’ type feel and the fewer accessories, the better. Natural wood can be combined with muted tones to keep a real sense of calm in your newly decorated bathroom.

“Creating the right look and feel to your bathroom can sometimes require a bit of additional thought with regards to what you like and what you want,” said Eden Harper. “But, if you prefer a calmer feel to your bathroom, where you can easily relax in a warm bath, then calm colours and tones and simple furniture and tiling choices are the perfect options.”

Wet room

This is a look that can work for large and small bathrooms alike. If you have a small place, a correctly designed and fitted wet room negates the need for shower doors and lots of accessories. Instead, you can create a more open plan feel to your bathroom and make features out of your choice of shower head or tap styles.

For a larger wet room, you can use tiled walls to separate the toilet from the shower and/or bath and still keep it looking modern and uncluttered.

Bathroom styles to avoid!

While it’s always fun selecting a style we like for our bathrooms, it can also be enjoyable taking a look at past trend that people would prefer weren’t repeated!

[the_ad id=”3144″]

A recent survey in which 2,000 Britons were polled, revealed the worst style choices of the past 50 years. Designs from every room in the home were highlighted. However, some of the bathroom faux pas were definitely worthy of note.

Seventies styling has a lot to answer for as the survey revealed things such as avocado bathroom suites and furry toilet seat covers were design ideas that Britons hope don’t make a comeback! Toilet rugs and pink bathrooms were also highlighted as bathroom design styles that not many people plan on repeating.

“Bathroom design trends come and go and while its great to have a look around at what’s available today, it’s equally as much fun discovering previously popular styles that home-owners never want to see again!” said M&M Property.
