Five Things to Know About Sprinkler Maintenance

Published

on

It seems like everything in life requires maintenance.  Your air conditioner, your health, your dog and even your sprinkler system repairs require some attention.  Left unattended the sprinkler system will under-perform the job you bought it to do.   More and more Florida business owners and homeowners are relying on automated sprinkler systems to maintain the beauty of their property.  An automated system when running properly can save time and effort and money.   Taking care of that system a few times a year can also save money in the long run.

1. Keep your sprinkler system well maintained

Sprinkler system repairs are a maintenance item that when attended to on a regular basis at least twice or three times per year will keep problems nipped in the bud and are much less costly when repaired sooner.  People who spend time in nature are happier, so keep your staycation spot looking and feeling great with a little walk through the sprinklers.

Any delay in the repair can cause damage to your flowers, shrubs or landscaping, as well as continued deterioration of the system itself.  And if the system needs a repair in one or more spots, there’s also a loss of water, which can increase your bill.  We suggest a simple inspection a few times a year and some preventative maintenance to prevent any bigger issues down the road.

2. Make sure nothing is obstructing your your sprinkler system

When planting new shrubs or flowers, be sure to check first to ensure the sprinkler spray will not be obstructed.  Positioning garbage cans or new plants in front of a sprinkler can cause dry spots where the water was supposed to flow.  Check your current landscaping as well to ensure that plant growth hasn’t blocked the path of water flow.  Sometimes the best fix is just a little trim of some leaves!

3. Clogged sprinkler need to be taking care of

Like an obstruction, a clogged sprinkler can also create a dry spot.  Over time debris and dirt can get caught in a nozze or or filter creating a clog.   If you notice dry spots, check for clogs in the nozzles or filters, resulting in minimal to no water being dispersed.

4. Check your irrigation for leaks

Seals in your sprinklers can wear down or be broken as a result of damage from a lawn mower, weed whacker or other maintenance of your landscaping.  A worn or broken seal can cause leaks, leading to reduced water pressure that dries out your property.  A leak could mean a big water loss as well, as the water runs down from the sprinkler instead of dispersing, causing a higher water bill.  Should that water pool, it can foster disease, insects and weeds.  A large leak is usually easy to find, when you notice dry spots on the property, but smaller leaks can also cause the same issues.  It can be helpful to find them before they get worse.

5. Is your sprinkler system overspraying?

If you are finding that your lawn is excessively wet after watering, it’s a cause for concern.  This too can increase a water bill, but also can mean that the system isn’t calibrated to water properly.  Sprinklers can be adjusted to make sure water dispersion is going to the correct portions of your landscaping.  Sometimes sprinklers might be positioned in the wrong way.  Sometimes a simple tilt of the sprinkler in the right direction is all that’s needed.  To do so, have a professional temporarily remove the soil around the sprinkler, adjust it, and then replace the soil (making sure to it is stable), remedying the situation and making sure water is applied to the proper portion of your lawn.

Four Indian police, two militants killed in Kashmir attack: police

Published

on

SRINAGAR (Reuters) – Four Indian paramilitary policemen and two militants were killed in a gunbattle that ensued after militants stormed into a police training center in Kashmir on Sunday, a police official said.

At least two militants entered the building at around 2:30 a.m. at Letpora, south of Srinagar, Rajesh Yadhav, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) spokesman told Reuters.

The militants fired indiscriminately and lobbed grenades before heading into the center, Yadhav said.

He said two militants and four police were killed in the gunbattle.

SN Srinvastav, special director general of the CRPF, said that there could be one or more militants still hiding.

“We hope that we will conclude the operation as soon as possible”, he said.

S P Vaid, director general of Jammu and Kashmir police, said that a search operation was going on, adding that they had received tip-offs about an impending militant strike in the Kashmir for the past three days.

“They (militants) were trying. They probably could not get a place and time earlier. So, they struck last night,” Vaid said.

Militants have targeted police camps in Kashmir in recent months. Eight Indian police officials were killed when Jaish-e-Mohammad militants attacked a security camp in southern Kashmir in August.

Indian troops have killed 206 militants this year, Vaid said. Last year’s total was 150.

India accuses Pakistan of training and arming militants and helping them infiltrate across the Line of Control that divides Kashmir. Pakistan denies those allegations.

The South Asian neighbors have fought two of their three wars since independence in 1947 over Muslim-majority Kashmir, which they both claim in full but rule in part.

New year could bring record low temperatures to U.S. Midwest, East Coast

Published

on

(Reuters) – Bitterly cold weather will usher in the new year for much of the United States east of the Rocky Mountains this weekend, bringing record low temperatures to the Midwest, making travel difficult and putting a chill on New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The mercury in New York City’s Times Square was expected to drop to about 10 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 12 Celsius) with a wind chill at nearly 0 F (minus 18C) during the final hours of 2017, the National Weather Service said, testing the willpower of hundreds of thousands of New Year’s Eve revelers.

In the heartland, next week could bring low temperatures last recorded 130 years ago to parts of Nebraska, said David Eastlack, a meteorologist with the weather service. That includes a record low for the date of minus 22F (minus 30C) for Tuesday.

“The bitter cold is going to be dangerous,” he said in a phone interview, warning residents of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa to avoid venturing outside or taking a car trip. He said that the wind chills will be near minus 35F (minus 37C), a level when frostbite could set in within 10 minutes.

The weather service predicted lows would hit minus 20F to minus 30F (minus 7C to -34C) from Montana into the Dakotas and Minnesota, well below average.

Temperatures could drop to around 0 F (minus 18C) as far south as the northern border of Oklahoma on New Year’s Day, and into the minus 30s near the Canadian border on Sunday and Monday, the service said.

The arctic air from Canada will also bring subfreezing temperatures to U.S. Gulf Coast cities such as Biloxi, Mississippi.

Icy roads will make travel difficult over much of the United States, from the south-central states of Texas and Oklahoma and eastward over Arkansas, northern Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama through the New Year’s weekend, the private AccuWeather forecasting service said.

Weather was expected to remain much more mild on the West Coast, with temperatures forecast in the low 70s in Los Angeles over the next few days.

How to Choose the Right Lipstick According to Your Skin

Published

on

A lot of people choose the right lipstick thinking by randomly going to a mall and selecting a shade the find attractive. Without applying them directly on their lips, they swatch a couple of colors on their wrist and think they find the right match. However, once they get home and apply the lipstick on their lips, the reflection they look in the mirror does not go according to their expectations. This is because the process through which they think they choose the right color is wrong.

Let is examine the right way of finding that one perfect shade according to your skin undertone that you can wear whenever you want. Follow the instructions below step by step.

See Your Skin Tone

The right way to do is to stand in front of a mirror and examine your skin too. Are you fair, light, tan, medium or dark? See if you get sunburn easily or you don’t get a burn at all? Do you get tanned easily or your skin is already tanned? Look for answers to these questions before jumping to the next step.

Undertone

Once you figure out the outer tone of your body, it is time to examine the undertone. Look for the color of your vein. We humans usually have three types of tones: warm, neutral, and cool. If your veins are blue or purple then you have a cool undertone. If your veins are green in color then your undertone is warm. However, if you can’t decide whether you have blue veins or green then you probably have neutral undertone.

Gold and Silver Jewelry

If you are still not able to figure out what undertone you have, you might as well switch to examining the kind of jewelry that fits best on your skin. Does your skin looks better when you wear a silver jewelry or are you more comfortable with gold? People who can easily sport these two are the ones with neutral undertone. Silver jewelry looks good on cool tone whilst gold on warm.

Everyday Color

Now let’s choose a lipstick for you. The best way is to find a color that is at least two shades darker than your lip color. Apply a lipstick you think is right on your lower lip and compare it with your bare natural upper lip. If you think that there is slightly difference, then you have found the perfect color. However, if there’s a lot of difference then you need more options. All users can get 20% Off on Teleflora Coupon Codes.
