How to Clean a Memory Foam Mattress Topper without getting stressed

Like other mattresses, memory foam mattress top is not latex or wool. This is a lot easier to clean if you have enough knowledge about what you are doing. So here are some basic tricks and tips to clean your memory foam mattress. If you follow accordingly, you will have a fresh smelling brand new looking mattress.

  1. Use a vacuum cleaner:

Maybe the easiest method of cleaning mattress is to vacuum it. Try to clean the mattress on a flat surface. Keep it on the floor, not on your bed. This will help you to reach every single nook and corner to clean it evenly. The vacuum sucks all the dust that was stored into the open cells of the mattress. The water-based vacuum cleaner is also safe to use on memory foam mattress. Just make sure you dry it for several hours. Do not put mattress protector in direct sunlight.

  1. Baking Soda:

Baking soda is a popular cleaning substance. Mix one part baking soda with two-part cold water and dissolve it until it is looking milky. Take a cloth and take some of the mixtures and gently rub the mixture into the stain. Leave the milky solution for an hour to soak up dirt really. Then use a damp cloth to mildly remove the solution from there. To dry the area use a dry cloth.

  1. White Vinegar:

If there is a nasty stain on your memory foam mattress or maybe another mattress like hybrid mattress you can clean them with white vinegar. Just take some white vinegar and dilute with water. The mixture should be 1:1. Then pour a bit on a damp cloth and rub it in the stain. Rub it until the stain goes. Then keep a dry cloth on that area to soak up the excess water. You can also use borax following the same process.

  1. Detergent:

Detergent is easy to use and it will leave a fresh smell on your mattress. Just make sure you do not use any cheap detergent or dishwashing liquid. Because it will make your mattress protector look dull and it will lose its appearance. The process is the same with detergent too. Use a damp cloth with diluted detergent. Then rub the stained area to get the stain out. Leave it for half an hour like this. Then again with a damp cloth rub the area to get the detergent out. Keep a dry cloth on it to soak excess water.

  1. Plain Water:

Water is also good for washing the mattress topper. Make sure you put the topper on a flat surface that there is no bump in it. Then thoroughly wash the topper. Do not use hot water thinking that it will be cleaned better. Hot water will shrink the topper and it will be spoiled. Roll the topper inwards and give it a slight press to remove excess water. Do not squeeze it to make it dry. Avoid sun from the topper. Before you place it back make sure it is hundred percent dry. Or mold fungus can attack it.

Remember to take care of your mattress. The lifespan of a mattress is ten years. If you do not keep it clean it will not be a healthy mattress to sleep on. Do not use hydrogen peroxide directly on top of memory foam mattress because this will destroy the texture and color from memory foam. Do not put the topper into the tumble dryer. If you are using a hair dryer do not let it get a touch of memory foam mattress. These are all you could do for keeping mattress new for years.

When you can help others in any way (and there are many ways it can be done, from volunteering your time, donating your money, teaching others how to do something, and more), you will benefit from it. We know that helping others can make you feel good, but there is more to it than that. In fact, there are some scientifically backed reasons why helping others can help you just as much, or even more. Read on to find out more.

You Might Live Longer

Helping others has been shown to increase your lifespan.
