Assistant Professor
Tenure-track Assistant Professor for the Instructional Design position in the Department of Educational Technology and Literacy. The College of Education seeks applications from a diverse pool of early career scholars with a strong focus on learning/instructional design/educational technologies, a commitment to engaging in service with underrepresented populations within the discipline and applying educational technologies to achieve more just and equitable educational learning opportunities and teaching practices. Candidates should have outstanding potential and a defined research agenda related to learning and educational improvement through the study of learning technology. They should have demonstrated teaching ability, strong methodological skills, and a desire to develop sponsored research. Successful candidates will have earned doctorate (degree completed by December 2022) from an accredited university in Instructional Technology, Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology, Cognitive Science, or related fields. Demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students. Active scholarly productivity with strong methodological training, learning design experience, and professional development commitment. Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Experience in teaching in online or hybrid learning environments. A strong interest in advising and mentoring masters and/or doctoral student research. Experience in designing and developing learning materials/ courses using emerging and advanced learning technologies. A desire to seek externally funded grants. Assistant Professor, History
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities with a specialization in Environmental Humanities of any region or time period in the Department of History beginning August 2022. PhD required. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the ‘Instructor’ rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2023. Specialization in Environmental Humanities, including the study of built, urban, or natural environments. Teaching experience (or potential for) in Digital Humanities and Environmental Humanities. Experience as creators or co-creators of Digital Humanities products. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarly potential. Ability to work with and be sensitive to the education needs of a diverse student body. Committed to active participation in service to the department, college, and university. Experience in or potential for applying for and winning grants from outside agencies OR in grant-based scholarship. The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop upper- and lower-level courses in Digital Humanities and Environmental Humanities as well as in their other areas of specialty. Towson University and the Department of History are moving towards the research-intensive R2 status and candidates will be expected to contribute to this move and to pursue grant-based scholarship. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach outside of the History Department in Towson’s Freshman Seminar Program, the Honors College and the Graduate Program. Assistant Professor, School Psychology
Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in Climatology starting in August 2022. Ph.D. in geography. Ph.D. in cognate field will be considered. ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank Tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professor position in our NASP-approved Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) Program in School Psychology beginning August 2022. Candidates must hold a doctorate in School Psychology from a NASP-approved or APA-accredited program. ABD candidates must complete all degree requirements prior to completion of the first academic year. Applicants must possess and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service primarily at the graduate level. The successful applicant will teach foundational and advanced courses for the school psychology program. Most graduate courses are taught late afternoon and evenings. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate research competency as well as evidence that they will continue to grow their research agenda, leading to publication in peer-reviewed journals. Areas of research interest are open. Applicants must possess and demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive teaching, research and service. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with a diverse population and be sensitive to the educational needs of these students. The successful applicant will contribute to on-going development and evaluation of the Program. Student advising and participation on Department or University committees are also expected. Evidence of effective teaching experience in a college or university setting as well as applied experience in the field is highly desirable. Assistant Professor
Two tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences beginning August 2022. PhD, or comparable terminal degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field. Though highly qualified applicants in all areas of computing will be considered, candidates with an expertise in software engineering in general, software testing, requirements engineering, and/or software development are strongly encouraged to apply. The CIS department has research and teaching strengths in all the above areas, and we are looking to grow our research cluster. The selected candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop strong research programs, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, apply for external funding, and participate in department activities.
