Delhi inoculates 56,000 children with first shot on Thursday, more than 24,000 precaution doses given
Over 56,000 eligible teenagers received their first Covid-19 vaccine doses in Delhi on Thursday, while more than 24,000 precaution shots were also administered, according to official figures.
On January 13, a total of 56,389 children in the age bracket of 15-17 years were vaccinated across Delhi till 5.30 pm, the daily bulletin said.

Bharat Biotech seeks full marketing approval from DCGI for Covaxin
Bharat Biotech has sought from the Drugs Controller General of India regular market approval for itsCOVID-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’, which is currently only authorised for emergency use in the country, official sources said on Thursday.
In an application sent to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) this week, V Krishna Mohan, Whole-Time Director at the Hyderabad-based company submitted complete information regarding chemistry, manufacturing and controls, along with pre-clinical and clinical data while seeking regular market authorisation for Covaxin.
The company, however, is yet to submit the full follow up data of clinical trila of Covaxin to DCGI, a source said.
J&K records 1,996 new Covid cases, 5 deaths
Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday recorded 1,966 fresh coronavirus cases, raising the tally to 3,50,167, while five fresh deaths pushed the toll to 4,552, officials said.
Of the fresh cases, 889 were reported from the Jammu division and 1,077 from the Kashmir division of the union territory, they said.

Tokyo’s Covid alert raised to 2nd highest level

Volkswagen China shuts two plants in Tianjin due to Covid-19 outbreaks
Volkswagen Group’s China unit said on Thursday it has shut a plant it jointly runs with FAW Group in the city of Tianjin, as well as a component factory, due to recent Covid-19 outbreaks there.
“Due to the recent Covid-19 outbreaks both the FAW-VW vehicle plant and VW Automatic Transmission Tianjin component factory have been shut down since Monday,” a spokesperson told Reuters.

Covid-19 cases rise in Delhi but hospital admissions have stabilised, says Jain
Hospitalisation rate due to coronavirus infection in the city has remained stable but the cases and the positivity rate have seen an increase, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said on Thursday.
The minister said the death audit committee, which met on Wednesday, found that the fatalities have mostly occurred among those with comorbid conditions.(PTI)

Odisha logs 10,059 new Covid-19 cases, 3 more fatalities
Odisha recorded 10,059 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, as the biggest single-day spike in over seven months pushed the tally to 11.02 lakh, a Health Department bulletin said.
The death toll also mounted to 8,472 with three more fatalities — one each in Angul, Kendrapara and Nayagarh districts, it said. Odisha had reported 11,623 coronavirus cases on May 26 last year, and 8,778 new infections on Wednesday.(PTI)
