The latest news from the King Power Stadium as they look to do January business
Hello and welcome to the live Leicester City blog on Friday, January 14, 2022, bringing you all of the latest Foxes transfer news and rumours throughout the day.
City are keen to add a new player to their squad before the end of the window with the loan signing of a centre back a priority.
The position has been described as 'critical' by manager Brendan Rodgers with midfielder Hamza Choudhury having to fill in in central defence alongside Jannik Vestergaard in the FA Cup clash vs Watford.
City have though been given some good news ahead of the weekend's trip to Turf Moor with Caglar Soyuncu one of the five players expected to return from injury for the game.
Long term absentee James Justin could also make the squad after returning from an ACL injury, although he will not start the game.
Surprisingly, Rodgers' side have not been linked with too many centre-backs so far this January, but have been linked with names such as Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell. There has also been talk over the future of Youri Tielemans, with the City boss giving an update in his press conference.

There has been a lot of talk over the future of starman Youri Tielemans over the last few days with Brendan Rodgers asked about the midfielder in his pre-match press conference.
"He is at an age and at a stage in his contract where he has to ensure he looks at every option. I would love it to be here at Leicester City, that is natural, but I also understand it's a very short career.
“While the player is committed, focused and professional, it's never a worry for me. With Youri you can see his joy of being here, he loves being here, but you have to respect that these guys' careers are short.”

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is once again being linked with a move away from the East Midlands this January transfer window.
It is far from the first time that clubs have been queuing up for Tielemans' services during the player's career, with a similar scenario unfolding when the then recently-turned 20-year-old left first club Anderlecht in the late spring of 2017.
After four full seasons featuring in the Champions and Europa League as a teenager for the perennial Belgian Pro League winners, a who's who of leading European lights, including Arsenal, were interested in the youngster.
The player made that clear at the time as well when revealing the reasons behind why a move to Arsenal didn't come to fruition.

Leicester City are weighing up making Ademola Lookman's loan deal permanent in the summer, Brendan Rodgers has said.
The winger has enjoyed a successful first half of the season with City after joining on loan from RB Leipzig on deadline day.
He scored the winner in the memorable 1-0 win over Liverpool and looked dangerous filling in in the middle in the FA Cup clash vs Watford last weekend.
Here is what Rodgers has said about a potential summer move.

The 20-year-old is seen as one of the brightest talents emerging from Belgian football and has been linked to a number of clubs over the last few months.
City are said to be 'really interested' in the Brugge forward with the player described as an 'advanced target.'
Amid links with a move away from Belgium, De Ketalaere was given some transfer advice – with City's name being mentioned.

Both were named in the starting eleven for the tricky opener against Mo Salah’s Egypt.
Iheanacho has been in form for City in the last six months, beating Jamie Vardy to the club’s golden boot at the end of last season.

Brendan Rodgers has recently said that more business is planned for the summer with City expecting a relatively quiet January window.

Leicester City are reportedly interested in a move for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.
According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, City are "interested" in a move for Ekitike, who has also been linked with a transfer to Newcastle United this month.
Ekitike has bagged eight goals in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season and has registered four assists, netting five times in his last eight matches.
The French wonderkid has been compared to Kylian Mbappe in some quarters and is determined to become the next big thing in French football.
Ekitike has been at Reims since 2013 and it has not taken the forward long to make his mark in the game after signing professional terms in July 2020.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta apparently "admires" Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as a January move has been dubbed "one to watch".
The Belgium international has less than 18 months remaining on the four-year contract signed when a permanent arrival from Monaco was confirmed in the summer of 2019.
City have been in talks with the midfielder for some time, but Tielemans has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the King Power Stadium.
Interest from Premier League rivals, including Arsenal and Liverpool, has previously been reported, but there is said to be "no truth" in the link to the Reds "whatsoever".

James Maddison was arguably the best Leicester City player on the pitch when they dumped Watford out of the FA Cup on Saturday.
The 25-year-old scored the Foxes' second goal and ran the game from midfield as Brendan Rodgers' men eased to the fourth round with a 4-1 victory as they seek to retain the trophy for another year.
It continues the rich vein of form the creative midfielder has been enjoying of late, having played below par for much of last season.
As good as Maddison has been, and as good as everyone knows he can be, there are still areas of his game he can improve upon to take him to the elite level.

Leicester City legend Gary Lineker has already started to stoke the flames ahead of the meeting with East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest next month.
On Sunday evening, City were drawn to face one of Premier League rivals Arsenal or Steve Cooper's Forest in the FA Cup fourth round mere minutes before the two sides faced off under the lights at the City Ground.
Lewis Grabban's late finish on the stretch proved to be the winner and confirmed that Brendan Rodgers ' side will travel to the banks of the River Trent on the first weekend in February.
